Chen Meng beat world #1 Sun Yingsha 4-2 to win back-to-back gold medals in the Women’s Singles table tennis event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Game 1: 11 – 4 (Sun Yingsha)
Game 2: 11 – 7 (Chen Meng)
Game 3: 11 – 4 (Chen Meng)
Game 4: 11 – 9 (Sun Yingsha)
Game 5: 11 – 9 (Chen Meng)
Game 6: 11 – 6 (Chen Meng)

Chen Meng beat the odds as Sun Yingsha was the favorite to win the match, having been world #1 since June 2022. The pair also met in the same event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where Meng won 4-2. Chen Meng now joins Deng Yaping and Zhang Yining as the only table tennis players to win back-to-back gold medals in women’s singles at the Olympics. China continues its dominance in the sport, having won the gold medal for women’s singles since 1988.
