Table tennis is still far from mass adoption compared to tennis, and this is reflected in tournament prizes. The biggest prize for a single event in tennis is currently $5,000,000 for the Grand Slam tournaments (Wimbledon, US Open, French Open, Australian Open), while in table tennis the highest prize is $100,000 for the Grand Smash tournament. In other words, tennis’s biggest prize is 50 times larger than that of table tennis.

It still baffles me to this day, especially since table tennis can be played almost anywhere and anytime. What do you think is the reason why table tennis is still so far behind tennis in terms of popularity?
