Let's talk about the elephant in the  room: Faulty serves.

On section 2 (2.6.2) on the ITTF Handbook of 2022,

"The server shall then project the ball near vertically upwards, without imparting spin, so that it rises at least 16cm after leaving the palm of the free hand and then falls without touching anything before being struck"

Reference: https://documents.ittf.sport/sites/default/files/public/2022-02/ITTF_HB_2022_clean_v1_0.pdf

16 cm is actually just 6.2 inches. That is just about the height of a cellphone. Try pick up your phone and see how actually short of a distance that is.

There are a lot of international players out there that actually have very short release serve. For example, Timo Boll.

Should ITTF change the rule? Is 6 in low enough? What I can say is that what most pinoys complain as low serves are actually not illegal serve.

I started playing in the 90s when there is absolutely no rules for serving ball. LOL

I grow up playing in the street in the province in Leyte where the playing philosophy is "Duwa na Binisaya" which literally means be street smart - 'don't complain, just figure it out'

So I never really complained even once during tournaments about opponents serve. I don't know maybe its just me.

What you guys think?
