All filipino final. Very impressed by these young players.

Kevine won 11-9, 11-7, 11-3 but both are very young and both can be top 10 players in the world if they continue to develope like this.

The Philippines has a great future in table tennis!

And Prince Mamita made it to the semi finals.

Do you know anything about these players? Do they belong to the same club, who coach them and so on?

Rald TANGHAL made it to round of 32. Jovito CORPUZ round of 64. Zachariah LO round of 64.

All in boys under 13.

In boys under 17 Benjamin Faraji from Iran lost the final, Benjamin who just a few days earlier had beaten world nr 1 WCQ and had match balls against Lin Shidong. So the kids can play table tennis...  😲

Not personally, but I've seen some of these kids play. When these kids play abroad, its either they are funded by private entities or they used their own money. There are a lot of great young Filipino table tennis players right now, just don't have the means to fund themselves in international competitions.

100+ million citizens and table tennis can be played almost anywhere with cheap equipment. So a perfect sport for a country under economic development.

I've argued that you can be on any lenght, short or tall and play table tennis. In basket ball though there is a clear advantage of being tall, so if becoming good and not just have a bit of fun and excersize is part of the equation then table tennis should be a clear preferance for young male and female filipinos.

Really glad to hear that there are many young good ones.

Sports can be a peace project as well, integration with other young people in China and elsewhere and maybe they will start respect borders.
Table tennis is also better for your brain than boxing. I would rather see 'Kevine' or such as a new super star in the Philippines than a new boxer. Smash the ball, not the head.

Hope the Philippines can host WTT Youth contender or other tournaments so that players can travel to the Philippines also, makeing it cheaper for more local players in the Philippines to compete. And for those not competing in the actual tournament just seeing it and experience the atmospehere.

Really, encourage your local politicians, Baranguay captains, principals at the schools to invest a bit in Table tennis and you will be rewarded.
You can have out door tables and run around it at the schools playing round-ping pong. You can have mid size tables.
Half tables with a robot and so on.

You have the most important asset already; tons of young kids and excersize is great for their brains and ability to concentrate on studies. And not everyone want to play basket ball or volley ball where tall = better.

Things have gotten a lot better in terms of support from the local government. Since the pandemic, numerous tournaments, big and small, have been held in various cities and provinces.

In 2023, the Philippines hosted a WTT Youth Contender in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Next year, in 2025, a WTT Youth Contender will be held there again.
