Last night game in the quarter finals between Wang Chuqin/SUN Yingsha and Lin Yun-Ju/CHEN Szu-Yu was a thrill.  Lin Yun-Ju/CHEN Szu-Yu  was ahead 2-1 before the Chinese mixed doubles team took over.

Great game last night in mixed doubles between North Korea and Hongkong. Ri Jong-sik will be the first North Korean table tennis player to win a medal in the Olympics after the win last night. Rooting for him and Kim Kum-yong  to win the mixed doubles in the finals.

Five time Olympian Lily Zhang from the USA team, beats Bruna Takahashi 4-2 , to make her way through to Round 16 for the first time in her Olympic career.

Her teammate, Kanak Jha, will play tomorrow in round 32 of the Men's Singles. I am really hoping more success in the USA team

Felix Lebrun has beaten Dimitri Otcharov in a game 7 match. Lebrun is now thru to the quarter-finals in Men's Singles. Lebrun was ahead 3-0 when Otcharov was able to catch up and tie it up 3-3. The French took the final set  to seal a victory in front of his home country. What a crowd it was as French table tennis fans packed South Paris Arena to support the young French prodigy.

While his brother is going thru the Quarterfinals, Alexis Lebrun has been eliminated in Round 16 by Hugo Calderano. Lebrun was in tears. Tough loss for him despite winning the 1st set, he was clearly overmatched in the 2nd to 5th set.

Manika Batra has been eliminated 1-4 in Round 16 by Japan's Miu Hirano.

1st set - 11 - 6  (Miu Hirano)

2nd set - 11 - 9 (Miu Hirano)

3rd set - 14 - 12 (Manika Batra)

4th set - 11 - 8 (Miu Hirano)

5th set -  11 - 6 (Miu Hirano)

Miu Hirano seems to have no problem dealing with the Indian table tennis player to which a lot of other top players including the Chinese had difficulty playing with.

Hugo Calderano is the first table tennis player to reach the semi-finals in Men's Singles. He delivered a dominant win over JANG Woojin of South Korea 4-0

He is the first Brazilian table tennis player to ever reach semi-finals in Men's Singles at the Olympics. I do believe when he is done with his career, many will hail him as the greatest Brazilian table tennis player of all time.

Also a 4-3 match, Shin Yubin beats Miu Hirano and will face Chen Meng in the semi-finals. It's been crazy Olympics so far.
