Shocking! World #1 Wang Chuqin loss to Word #26 Truls Moregard
Truls Moregard shocks the world when he beat World #1 Wang Chuqin in Round 32 of Men’s Singles Event in Round 32 of the Olympics
Moregard was ahead 2-0 when the great Chinese player had it even 2-2. In a very close set (11-9), Moregard took the 5th set and had it 3-2. In an emphatic fashion, the Swedish player took over the 6th set and winning the game at 4-2.
Moregard had the best performance of his career.
Wang Chuqin just won the mixed double’s event the day before when a camera man stepped over his racket and broke it. A lot of fans wonder if that might have affected Wang’s performance as he was visibly seen struggling mostly with his backhand shots.
Regardless, the event will come down as the greatest upset in table tennis history.
I love the fact that Wang Chuqin did not make an excuse for the broken racket. I love players who resists temptations to take a blame. It a sign of inner strength and personal accountability.
Blaming is a sign of weakness and insecurity - giving in from outside pressure.
