Biography
Eljey Dan Tormis, nicknamed “Dondon”, is a Filipino table tennis player. Born and raised in Cebu City, he spent his elementary years at the University of Cebu where he developed his table tennis skils. Tormis is from a family of table tennis players. His older brother Dannel Jay “Dandan” Tormis represented the Philippines in international youth table tennis tournaments. His older sister Dindin Tormis is a varsity player at the University of Cebu.
Eljey Tormis moved to Manila to play for the University of Sto. Tomas (UST Growling Tigers), where he has become the team’s star player. In UAAP Season 85, he was awarded Rookie of the Year. In UAAP Season 87, he was named Most Valuable Player.
Eljey Tormis earned a spot on the Philippine national table tennis team after winning one of the two available men’s national positions at the 2023 national qualifying tournament held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The event was organized by the Philippine Table Tennis Federation (PTTF), the governing body for the sport in the Philippines. Tormis and French-Filipino player Edouard Valenet claimed the two open spots, joining Jann Nayre, John Russel Misal, and Richard Gonzales on the squad that represented the Philippines at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games.
Tormis won bronze medal at 2025 Southeast Asian Games Team Event.
