Sun Yingsha

Sun Yingsha is a Chinese professional table tennis superstar who was born on November 4, 2000 in Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China. Sun Yingsha started playing table tennis very early in her childhood — she began training around age 5 and was selected for professional training with the Hebei provincial team by age 10. She first drew public attention in 2015 when she won the singles title at the Junior National Championships and was recruited into China’s second-string national team (the B team) that year. After about sixteen months on the B team, she was promoted to the senior China national table tennis team in January 2017, at age 16.

In her career, Sun has amassed a remarkable list of achievements at the highest level of table tennis. She has won multiple Olympic medals, including a gold in mixed doubles and team events and a silver in women’s singles at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and she contributed to China’s team golds in both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. She has also been a dominant force in World Championships and World Cup/WTT Finals events with numerous titles, Asian Games victories in singles, team and mixed categories, and historic results such as becoming the first player to surpass the 10 000-point mark in ITTF world rankings.

Sun Yingsha has won 27 singles titles including 4 Grand Smashes which is the biggest tournament in the WTT Series.
