Biography

Wong Qi Shen is a professional table tennis player from the state of Kedah, Malaysia. Born on August 26 2003, he has represented Malaysia in numerous international table tennis tournaments.

Wong Qi Shen and his doubles partner Choong Javen pulled off a major upset by defeating the world No. 1-ranked doubles pair, Lin Shidong and Lin Gaoyuan, securing a bronze medal for Malaysia at the 2024 Asian Table Tennis Championships.

Wong  represented Malaysia at the 2025 South East Asian Games and won bronze medal in team event  and silver medals in men’s and mixed doubles.

Most Notable Win

Wong Qi Shen’s most notable win so far in the WTT series was reaching the round of 32 at the WTT Star Contender London 2025. He won three matches in the qualifying rounds, beating Larry Trumpauskas, Ylane Batix, and Darius Movileanu. He then defeated Aditya Sareen in the round of 64 before finally losing to Flavien Coton in the round of 32. Wong Qi Shen earned 45 ranking points – his biggest points gained so far. 

At the Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Wong Qi Shen and Choong Javen pulled out a major upset against Lin Shidong and Lin Gaoyuan in a double match.  The duo won a bronze medal which is Malaysia’s first medal at the Asian championships after 54 years.
