For the second time this year, the winners of a WTT Champions event are both not from team China. The first edition of 2026 was held in Doha, Qatar, where Zhu Yuling (Macao) and Lin Yun-Ju (Chinese Taipei) claimed the titles.
The second edition, in Chongqing, China, has just concluded. It was won by Felix Lebrun (France) and Miwa Harimoto (Japan). At a combined age of just 36, Harimoto (17) and Lebrun (19) are the youngest pair of singles winners in WTT Champions history. This is Lebrun second WTT Champions title and Harimoto’s first.

WTT Champions Chongqing 2026 was the third edition of the event held in Chongqing. The first two in 2024 and 2025 were both won by Chinese players. What makes this result even more extraordinary is not only the record-breaking combined age of the champions, but also the fact that both singles titles were won by non-Chinese players — in front of a home crowd in China.
It is hard to imagine this feat being surpassed anytime soon, but such wins are excellent for a sport long dominated by one nationality. We will find out what happens next at the upcoming WTT Champions event in Yokohama, Japan, from August 4–9, 2026.
