What exactly is 5 ply wood + 2 Arylate Carbon? How does it compare with a 7 ply wood blade?

Examples of the 5 + 2 blade I found on the net are Timo Boll ALC, Sanwei Froster EX-C, and  Yinhe 970x

It means the blade has some layer of carbon. There are different types of carbon such ZLC, CNF, and ALC and with a 5 ply + 2 Arylate-Carbon, it basically means 2 layers of the blade are made of Arylate-Carbon.

For example, Timo Boll ALC's composition is Koto-ALC-Limba-Kiri-Limba-ALC-Koto which means the 2nd and 6th layers are carbon.

This is in contrast with a 7-ply all wood which means, well, all layers are made with wood. Specially, carbon layers are infused to add more power and to the blade.

As previously mentioned there are different types of carbon layers than can be infused for a 7 layer blade. This blog article provides a good reference on how these types of carbon differs.
