Ovtcharov lost to Liam Pitchford in Round 32. He's been losing a lot lately and has not won any significant tournament in the past 2-3 years.

He's been slipping in the ITTF rankings and has been surpassed by Benedikt Duda in the ITTF Rankings.

Ovtcharov maybe 36 years old. He's almost there but I heard even the next generation of young German table tennis player can't beat him.

In terms of ITTF rankings, he is currently #3 German table tennis players(behind Patrick Franziksa and Benedikt Duda) . It's not yet time for him to retire.

Two weeks ago.

Dimitrij Ovtcharov vs Patrick Franziska | 1/4 European Championship 2024
11-3, 11-6, 11-7, 11-8

Dima won a bronz a that tournament.

Dima also won - first place - WTT Contender Lagos 2024.

He can quit since he is likely over his peak, but so are many players that still are capable of winning.

(If he quit he should go all in and train the kids he has together with Swedish former national team table tennis player Emma.) 🤩
