Is this place active now, in Sambag 2, Urgello Cebu City? I mean can I go there 'now' (tomorrow / this weekend) and find players / coaches?

I'm a newbie / intermediate and I'm old but it seems to be open for everyone and not only college players? I played a bit when I was a kid then I haven't touched a racket for 35 years and now I recently started again.

Entrance fee is 60 pesos for non-students if I read correct.

My apology if this place already have a thread but as I understand it the place has a whole forum but not a separate thread. 🙂

@Inyagan It is the most active club in Metro Cebu. I used to live in that place but now I am based in Lapu-lapu. But I was able to play yesterday.

You can play there from 9 AM to 9 PM , Monday to Sundays but most people there play 5 PM onwards. Also Saturdays is the busiest day.

There is a little bit volume now because of the Palarong Pambansa and younger demographics.

60 pesos for non-students - This is correct.

I went to this place today. Would never have found it without my guides. 😀

Unfortunately for me (but good for table tennis as a sport) it was fully occupant with youngsters traning for the Palarong Pambansa.

We talked a bit with the guys there and left for CityMall where there are four tables to lend free of charge, I played against a guy there but just a two sets since it was in a mall. Then we took off for check out IT-park, Mactan Newtown and both Ayala Malls. A good day but not much table tennis.

So struggle continue to find a place where I can train table tennis while here, and preferably near or in City of Naga.

Just to clarify, are you looking to train players or are you looking for trainers?

If its the latter, what type of training are you looking for? I can help you connect with trainers in MECTELL.

Hi Roel, I'm just looking for a place near where I stay - Inayagan, City of Naga - where I can play table tennis against others at similar level.
I'm not looking for a trainer and I'm not here to act as a trainer myself. I do have a trainer education and I help out beginners in my home country but here in the Phillipines during my stay here I have no such ambitions.

If it would be easier for me to play against a coach and pay for it I'm willing to do it but it is difficult for me to schedule a time at MECTELL since I'm in City of Naga and the traffic is challenging..

If I go there this week again a on a weekday and a bit earlier would you guess there are possible to play against some players or will it be full whole week?

Not entirely sure because the last time Cebu held Palarong Pambansa was 1994 and the club has not existed yet. I could only guess that MECTELL will be fully packed for the whole week.

I will be watching some table tennis events in Palarong Pambansa in CTU and if I get the chance I'll go to MECTELL to see how the club's doing . I'll let you know.

Hey man,

I did not get chance to visit MECTTEL but was able to watch Palarong Pambansa. There were a lot of great games I did not notice the time.

Enjoy your vacation.
