I've read from several media outlets than Fan Zhendong will not be playing for Team China at the World Team Table Tennis Championships 2026 due to "personal reasons" . This year's edition is the first time that we don't see a Chinese Olympic gold medalist playing for Team China. That means no Ma Long or Fan Zhendong to help Team China extend their 25 years dominance at the tournament. For context, Team China has not been defeated at the World Team Table Tennis Championships since 2000.

However, with the meteoric rise of Sora Matsushima, Team China could be in serious trouble at the World Team Table Tennis Championships 2026 in London coming soon later this month.

Will China win this year's World Team Table Tennis Championships? What are your thoughts?

Table tennis layers likely to play at the World Team Championships for China are Wang Chuqin, Lin Shidong, and either Liang Jingkun or Wen Ruibo. If Wang wins both his matches, it's still very difficult to beat team China. However, if Wang lose even one match, they are in serious trouble. The other two players, Lin Shidong and Liang Jingkun/Wen Ruibo, have been inconsistent, especially in recent tournaments.
